THE BABES OF SHELLHARBOUR

Grey nurse sharks are often sighted in Shellharbour around sites like Bushrangers Bay, the Gutters at Bass Point and even the Gravel Loader. Typically sharks seen in this area are juveniles, and hang about the area for months at a time, sometimes years.

One main goal of Spot a Shark is to showcase the individual personalities of each shark. Erica for example is friendly and loves showing off her scars. Roller likes to hang about just that bit out of reach. Larissa is curious and seems quite enamoured by divers. Some of our Spot a Shark community have started to recognise these sharks by sight!

If you are curious about the local shark population in Shellharbour, or perhaps you are a frequent diver there and would like to know who you are likely to be diving with, here are a few of our favourites. Our most frequently sighted sharks since 2021 include Brad, Max, Evelyn, Harry Potter, Maffy, Brooke, Molly, Raul, Larissa, Roller, Pongo, Frogger, Nicole, Chicanabella, Bella, Nala, Lola, Woody and Erica.

Dive responsibly. Do not chase or harass – no photo or video is worth scaring a shark. Follow the code of conduct and if you see one of the babes of Shellharbour please share with us.
